Dudley Resan is delighted to announce their continued membership of the design in mental health network. We have recently renewed our membership on the back of another fantastic year of engaging with fellow members and industry professionals on the impact of product design in the mental health and medical sector.
The Design in Mental Health Network brings together all those with an interest in mental health built environments, to encourage the sharing of best practice in design and to create improved and innovative solutions to aid recovery.
One of the ways the Network makes itself available is through the annual conference. Resan has exhibited at the Conference for the last five years and has engaged with various healthcare professionals across the UK and abroad on current needs and challenges. In 2019, it was an obvious place for us to launch our new solid surface sanitary ware range.
Key themes of the network are normalisation of the environment, improving patient safety and helping service users take control of their environment. Recent engagement with the network in 2018 included supporting developments for an anti-ligature standard and as well as product robustness. The Network has engaged with the BRE (Building Research Establishment) on a ‘Test and Declare’ performance method. Resan gave input on the real challenges seen in mental health environments and suggestions on how to assess the suitability of the product in various instances.
The Network is currently in consultation with industry on the documentation for ligature performance and robustness.
